IUI cancelled

Sooooo, I went to the doc this morning and apparently the Bravelle worked a little too well. There were so many maturing eggs that they decided to cancel this cycle. They put me on BCP's for two weeks and told me I CAN'T have unprotected sex. There is too high a risk of multiplesChat Icon ...
The worst part was that the Dr. told me they aren't sure what they are going to do with the next cycle as they had me on a very low dosage of Bravelle and certainly shouldn't have had this much of a reaction...so I have to go in for a new consult in two weeks to discuss what options I may have.
This was just very depressing news and made my day terrible. Not to mention that with all the hormones I have been on, I was crying like a baby for the whole morning...and I am very down about any prospects I may have.
Sorry to vent, but I figured you guys are the ones that it's easiest to tell what is going on and how I feel.
Thanks for all your support.

At least it worked! Too well, but it did! Hopefully it just means looking for something else that will be better!

Good luck!

Oh no, I know its frustrating! That really stinks!! I for one don't understand how our bodies can make not enough of something...and then too much of something.

But, I agree, its good news that you can grow follies! Now they just have to regulate your meds!

What are the chances of having mutiples? And multiples as in how many? Like having twins? Or like having 8 babies? (I'm sorry I don't know much about this stuff just yet)

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I am so sorry you had to cancel this cycle. I know it stinks but I am glad your doctors are on it so you don't begin to suffer from OHSS.

Hopefully next cycle they can come up with the right course of action for you, so that you produce just the right amount of follies ...

You are a stronger woman than me though - knowing my state of mind lately I think I would still try. But I know that wouldn't be healthy for you or the potential babies!

Try to stay positive and hope for better news next month!!

I would have bawled too, even if I wasn't on meds. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I hope they regulate your meds just perfectly so that next month will be THE month for you. Chat Icon

Im so sorry. Im also taking Bravelle, and they increased my dose, and finding more side effects. The worst are the headaches.
Im getting very moody, and DH sees it, and hates the mood swings, and I cant help it.

Okay...today was much better, it helped that we went to contract on a house! Finally!!

As far as trying anyway, they pretty much felt that wasn't an option. Originally, that was my opinion too...just do it anyway. Unless I was willing to "get rid" of any more than two embryo's. And that is something I could never do. First of all, how could I do that after TTC'ing for so long and secondly, I couldn't do it for moral/ethical/religous reasons.
By the way, they weren't talking triplets, they are talking quads or quints and the dr. said that the reason they avoid that many is because of the high risk factor for the babies and that the mother is usually put on bed rest for almost the whole nine months. He basically said there are major health reasons why they won't do the IUI whan there are that many eggs.
