Tell me your favorite B&B's within driving distance of LI..

I have gone to a couple in New Hope PA. Its a GREAT place lots of shops and restaurants.

What do you consider "driving distance"?

I love The Manor B&B at the Castel Grisch Estate Winery in Watkins Glen, NY. About 4.5 hours by car from LI, I think.

4-6 hour drive ...I want something romantic.

3 to 4 hour drive: the Queen Anne Inn, in New London, CT. VERY romantic and right near Mystic Seaport and Foxwoods Casino. I remember there was a great little Thai restaurant in downtown New London. I went to this B&B once about three years ago.

6 to 6.5 hour drive: the Notchland Inn, in Bartlett, NH. This is in the Mt Washington Valley, and I swear this area is my favorite place on earth. If I could afford it I'd buy a vacation house there-- you have skiing in the winter, hiking/kayaking/etc in the summer, and foliage in the fall. The inn is fantastic, there's a fireplace in every room! The men who run the inn are extremely nice, and former New Yorkers. Also, their dining room is like a five star restaurant. We've been here three times and I want to go back AGAIN! :)

my friend just came back from buttermilk falls and loved it...dh and i are planning on going oursleves maybe this summer...
