You want to ask things like, what is the adult to child ratio, what the daily schedule is like for the kids (nap time, snacks, learning, etc.), what are their credentials, licenses etc., what their policies are on discipline, crying children, what is their record (health, safety, injuries, etc.)

When I was looking at day cares I kinda knew when I walked in if I felt comfortable with the place - just watch the kids too and see if they are happy and having funChat Icon

do you send your own lunch (for older kids) and what is the menu like?

Is there a feeding schedule or do they follow the one you follow at home?

is there an educational curriculum?

look at the toys, the cribs they sleep in, etc. ARe the employees in the baby room wearing gloves when changing diapers and or feeding? What is the overall feel of the place when you walk in?

DO they take the kids outside for fresh air at all? What is the percentage of incidents (injuries)? Is there discipline? What is it?

Ask for references both current and older.....

I HATED working there and swore I would never put my child in full time daycare. You have people that genuinely love the kids and you have those who are just there because it is a job....and not a well paying one either so there is harbored resentment.

I currently work in a pre-k/daycare and my uncle works for licensing...so I could give you a LONG list of things that should be done in any day care.. things you could easily look for on a tour...

All the questions posted on this thread are great!!!

I dont know what are you are looking for...but I could recommend a couple I have worked for... and if you have any questions... Feel free to send me a FM
