Cathy told me that they are assigned according to where you live. There are social workers for each region of LI. The only way they'll assign a social worker outside of your region is if the social workers in your region have too many people on their caseload. So there, I answered my own question.

Joe just told me that our SW told him that he adopted a girl from Vietnam 11 yrs ago, so this is just just a job to him, more of a passion. This is great news. I so wish I talked to him myself. You know how badly guys s*ck at repeating phone conversations -- well at least MY man.
