ETA: Joe just called to tell me that he broke down and called NB earlier today and nobody was there to pick up the phone ... and then nobody called him back. He said he's going to try again tomorrow.

Joe finally got in touch with NB yesterday. The woman he spoke with told him that we had a social worker assigned to our case and that he had nobody in front of us on his list, so I don't know what the hold-up is. I hope he's enjoying his six week-long vacation.

Use this time to get the house and nursery ready, with the help of an overly anxious friend

Can I just say that I would be concerned with the way that they are handling this whole situation. You are being put "on hold" for weeks, not being called etc...I hope this is not how the entire process will go with this agency. Have you considered switching?

Hmmm, Can you place another call, let's say to Cathy? Or email them? I would hate to call and ask again, but gosh, it has been a while and there should at least be a call to schedule the first meeting.

How are you doing?

I'm trying to keep my composure and use this time to get my house ready, but I must admit I'm very upset with the way this is being handled. I would have appreciated a call saying, "I just wanted to let you know that we have assigned a social worker to you, but unfortunately, he is away on a two-month long vacation and will be unable to meet with you until he returns. In the meantime, we are working on reassigning another caseworker to you." Ya know? I feel like I'm annoying them with my persistence and every email I send to them goes unanswered. It's also upsetting to know that other social workers have more people on their caseload and are moving quicker than mine. The LEAST I would have expected was an apology for the delay and having the person at NB say that they'd call the social worker on our behalf to see what the delay is. I keep telling myself that this delay is all happening for a reason. That there's a baby out there that is meant to join my family and we are waiting on God's time, but it's hard.

ETA: Our nursery is already finished. We're just waiting on a few online deliveries to arrive. I'll post pictures soon.

Is he really on a 2 month vaca? I would call and ask for a different social worker. I had made that request last summer b/c I did not like the one we had for the hosting program. It can be done.


Finished w/ the nursery? OHmy...we haven't started ---don't plan to until the fall.

LOL re: the laughing dude. I thought you were laughing at me for obsessing.

He didn't set up an appt with us. He was still on vacation but according to him, he's pretty flexible. He's going to have to be bc I'm working until like 9pm every day for the next few weeks. I can't wait to quit this job and just be a mommy!

ETA: I thought for sure I'd have the same SW as you Sandra....or Jenn's. I thought it went by location. Maybe there are alot of ppl in our area adopting!

I don't think there is any resoning behind assigning SW. They just see who has the lowest case load and there you go.

I don't know anyone who has had the same SW as us.
