EI Question - Changing Therapists

How does one go about chaning one of the therapists in EI? It's not working out with his OT. Do I contact the Serice Coordinator? The paper seems like that mostly had to do with the evals. Do I contact the agency? I remember getting something from the agency but can't find it and don't remember seeing a 'point person' on the sheet.Chat Icon

I believe you could call the service coordinator and she could handle it for you. She will then contact the therapist and/or the agency.

agree with all.....call the service coordinator. I've also called the agency directly and that was effective as well.

I also agree...call the ongoing service coordinator of the agency you are using.

Since we are started evals, etc.. The Nassau EI coordinator told me that any issues should be addressed to her. She is my point of contact.

How long should it take to get a new therapist? Usually?

squeaky wheel gets the oil. I would call an annoy them until they send someone else. that's just me though. I've had it take a week or two though.Chat Icon

I just changed my OT. It took 3 weeks for them to find a new therapist. (Not through EI)

Our EIOD is very good. The few times I have called her she called me back the same day.

Ask them to fax any paperwork. That should make it go faster.
