Atypical hand posturing?

I posted this on parenting but want to post here too...

on a recent eval of johnny at preschool the coordinator noted "atypical hand posturing when walking down hallway/fisted". I have to talk to her later about this, but just curious if anyones child dealt with this. It's something I've never ever noticed?! TIA!

I have never dealt with that...but in Steven's evals and then I noticed it, he does 'pilling.' (rubs his thumb and pointer together).

Perhaps it's a stim and he's clenching. Or maybe it's comforting to him. Does he have sensory issues? Because then it would sound pretty 'normal'

I wouldn't think that clenching your fist would be atypical.

Yes, he has sensory issues. He has flapped his hands since he's a baby and still does it, mainly when excited over something. But this posturing thing I wasn't sure about.

I just watched him as we walked home from school...I did see he kind of keeps his left hand in a half fist..not completely closed, but not open. I never thought it to be abnormal! I guess I'll know more when she calls me back!
