family history of loss

just wondering if you have a family history of miscarriages/loss, or if you are the first one.

I know my mother had 2 miscarriages and a baby that died after 3 days. I believe she had an incompetent cervix. She past away a few years ago, I sooo wish she was still here. She is one person who would understand what I am going thru.

My sister had 4 kids all on the 1st try.
So, I'm wondering if my issues are hereditary or just 2 shots of ****** luck.

i believe that Incomptetent Cerivx could be hereditary..

my sister had a loss at 16 weeks also.. SAME as me.. for the same reasons.. we had the same symptoms.

my mom had a MC also..it was early.

My mother had a loss before she had me. My sister lost her first at 8 weeks. I always wonder if it's related.

a friend of mine told me something that completely stunned me...

EVERY SINGLE WOMAN IN HER FAMILY miscarries their first pregnancy & then goes on to have successful pregnancy after pregnancy.

This KILLED me - but she had 'made peace' with it. It happened with all of her 6 sisters (who live ALL OVER the world), her mom and grandmother, every aunt...

She did as well, miscarry with her first...and is trying for another now.

I would think that incompitent cervix can indeed be hereditary. Recurrent miscarraiges can also be due to some genetic problems, determinable by a fertility specialist.

However, an enourmous amount of miscarraiges happen, that are random chromosomal mis-haps, having nothing to do with genetics. Creating an embryo is such a complex process... and so much has to happen "right" in order for it to work....sometimes it just doesn't happen correctly. This is not genetic...and unfortunately nothing that is controllable. Those first weeks/months of development are up to higher forces that medicine cannot necessarily control.

I'm not a doctor, but this just makes sense.

i would agree with this... it does make sense!

and thats the only reason why i think IC "can" be hereditary.. just because how ironically my sister and i had it at the same week of our Pregnancy.. i did ask our doctor about this and he said it is VERY possible but no proof on it of course.

My mother miscarried her second pregnancy around 5 weeks & the same happened to me. It was probably a coincidence though.

My mother had 4 m/c before me. Back in the 60's they gave you a D&C after m/c. Even if you were 6 weeks. So after a D&C you are more fertile bc you have a clean slate. So she had a m/c at 6w, 8w, 12w, 20w. Then they gave her injections of progesterone from day one to 8 months and she had me.

I've had 4 m/c and need progesterone injections next time I get pg. I'd say that was hereditary.

I had an ectopic last year. My paternal grandmother had one between my dad and my aunt. Funny thing is that no one but she and my grandfather knew until I had my ectopic. It just wasn't talked about then.

There have been no other losses in my family.

My mother got pregnant "accidentally" both times (they were married). Chat Icon
