I did the Avon 3-day one year. But, we only ended up walking 1 day because of terrible weather - 1 day for about 17 miles. We were supposed to do 60 miles over 3 days, but I raised about $3700, which I was very proud of. Chat Icon

i have also done a Komen walk for breast cancer and a Revlon walk.

MS walk
Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach for the last three years
I crewed the Susan Komen Three Day
and I am thinking of doing the LI 2 Day this year...the problem is raising all that money.
Breast Cancer is an issue with me as my friend was diagnosed with a very aggressive form three years ago, thankfully she is cancer free right now.

Gerty, I walked in a 3day a few years ago and was also worried about raising the $, but ended up raising almost double the required amount. They had message boards on the sites that I found helpful, but I sent a letter to almost everyone I knew, and was really surprised at how generous people were.

FM if you want a copy of my letter or other ideas Chat Icon The training actually ended up being tougher for me Chat Icon

Every year, DH and I do the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. It has even more meaning for us now that DH is a cancer survivor.

I did the same one. I was so upset when it was cancelled.

I think this is the only walk I did, but I have done the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure (bike ride) 2x and in college we had a 48hour dance marathon (not necessarily dancing for 48 hrs, but no sitting, no sleeping!) raising money for kids with cancer at Hershey Medical Center and I "danced" senior year. It is a real honor at my school and in my sorority so I was so proud!!

I do a couple of walks a year, not always the same ones...

American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer
Revlons Walk
Susan G Komen Race for the Cure

Sunday I am walking for:
The Thomas G LaBrecque Foundation for Lung Cancer

and the one that I hold close to my heart,

Light the Night -The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
I AM NOT missing this one this year!

I did the Revlon Run/Walk for Women in '03. It ended up being a great experience but also really emotional and difficult at the same time. Chat Icon
