30 second AWKWARD conversation tonight! TMI alert...

DH brings my 17 yr old SD for dinner tonight, and picked up some groceries on the way.

I see a huge container of pure cranberry juice on the kitchen counter. I asked DH why he would buy that vile stuff its unsweetened and tastes awful) and he said its for Megan.

I say, uh oh, UTI?

He says yes.

so far, it doesn't seem he really put it together. She has a new boyfriend...Chat Icon

I go over to her later in private and say, "Meg, if you are having sex, you are going to get UTI's. You need to pee immediately after, and take wet toilet paper and shove it up there to clean up. I am telling you this because I have been there, and you need to go to a doctor ASAP to get anti biotics to avoid a kidney infection."

Does her mom tell her this? No.... Did her mom even think of calling a doctor??? No!!! She was giving her some herbal remedy... Chat Icon

I also made sure they were using condoms. I explained that the nonoxynol 9 can be very irritating down there - all the more reason to wash up - no "basking" until AFTER you wash!!! Chat Icon

The thing is, Megan knows I have been around the block, but still, its gotta be strange having this conversation with me.

I told DH later - he said, "Wow, my little girl is growing up!" Chat Icon

I said, at least its been a good experience for her. She is with someone she loves and she waited for that. Chat Icon

I feel so bad that she has to go through this Chat Icon it hurts so badly - I told DH that I did not share with her the fact that he sent me to the emergency room with a kidney infection from doing too much of that wild thang! Chat Icon

Liza, it sounds like she's lucky to have you in her life.

I have basically the same sort of situation with my stepkids, but thankfully they are boys!

The younger one comes to me with all his troubles between things he likes that are unconventional, to girls he likes, to fights he has with friends. I'm glad I'm the one he trusts and I'm glad that your SD has a SM who she can trust, too Chat Icon

It sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with your SD! How sweet! My SD is 16 and doesn't seem to be interested in boyfriends yet (self esteem issues). I know it sounds stupid, but I can't wait to have a moment like that with her. Great job!Chat Icon

OMG that is so funny! She's very lucky to have a step mom she can talk to or feel comfortable being talked to. Men are so clueless sometimes. My DH would be the same way. LOL
