Does anyone have a scout?

My dh wants to get ds into scouting. He came home from school yesterday with a flyer about cub scouts and a meeting that's coming up next week.

Any idea what to expect from scouting? How much it costs, how many days a week we'd be committing to?

He already does soccer 2 days a week (one practice and one game) and in the fall he'll also be starting communion classes and my daughter will be starting soccer. I'm afraid to get him started in something else if it's going to be too much right now.

My son was going to start last year, however he also started religion and did Nin Jitsu 2x a week. Scouting sounded like a really big committment, so we decided against it.
A friend of his did it, and his mom said they do really fun day trips and overnight trips, but she too thinks she got in alittle over her head with it.

My son tried it - his step-dad really wanted to get him involved with something - we got the uniform and stuff which is not cheap, the meetings were once a week, and they had a family night once a month. Needless to say, this was really not my sons thing. So he isn't doing it anymore. They do a lot, as far as day trips and such, and with our work schedules it really wasn't working out for us either.

My son is a cub scout. He is in his first year. It wasn't to expensive but our den leader was not the greatest. He was always cancelling eetings at lthe last minute and thing slike that. Usually they meet once a week twice a month and have pack night one Friday a month. Even though the scheduling is a pain my son really enjoys it a lot though so it's worth it in the end.
