with the growing issues of public schools, many people are doing private schools, home teaching and others... What do you think?

I prefer Catholic school, but DH feels that it is a waste, so we will see what the future holds.

there is no way that we would be able to afford private school....and still pay for college....I just plan on being very active in my son's school work and activities

I would LOVE to be able to put my child in private school

ESPECIALLY if i had to live in a not so nice area...

But what i find interesting here on LI...is that the best schools are NOT private!!!

My son goes to public school and my daughter will start there next year. So far we're happy with it!

I live in queens and our school $uck$ big time. public school. I would love to change the school to private but the cost is crazy and with schools closing I dont know if I would want to send my boys. Im actually debating with hubby to change my kids schools .

It depends on where I am living. If I live in the boroughs, then it would be Catholic since a lot of the public schools stink to say the least.

If I live in LI or NJ I would probably consider public.

Public. As a public school teacher I believe in public education and I will also be active in my children's learning in every way possible.

I'm a product of public school, and believe in the Long Island public school system. I plan to be an active parent both for my child and the school system to try and make my child's experience all that it should/can be.

Public School. FH went to private school and wishes he had the options that I did going to public school. We plan on living in Fairfax County, VA, which has a good school system, so they'll go there Chat Icon

As long as I live in the city of Chicago, my child will go to private or Catholic school. The public school system here has a lot of problems.

My MIL was a teacher and FIL a principal in the public schools but they were a lot different when they were teaching.

If we move to the suburbs then my kids will go to public school.

Private schools are so darn expensive, that I'm sure we'll give public schools a chance. If for some reason things aren't going smoothly in the public schools though, I would gladly switch over to private, regardless of the cost.

As long as I live in a decent area, public school. I'd rather save the tuition money for college. I'm a product of NYC public schools, and I turned out just fine.

I agree w/ Jax. Public if it's in a good area. Private if the school district isn't good.
