Anyone have a lipoma?

A lipoma is a common, benign tumor composed of fatty tissue.

I noticed a lump on the front of my leg on my thigh above my knee. I went to my primary care doctor and he said it doesn't feel like anything "bad" and that it is probably a lipoma. He's referring me to a surgeon for a second opinion.

My husband had a lipoma removed from his forearm and few years ago, but his was much more defined.

Has anyone had any experience with lipomas?

Thanks!

Dh had one removed from his back about 8 years ago, he was out the same day, but went home with a Jackson Pratt.

Left a pretty large scar but I think that was the surgeons fault Chat Icon

I have one on my lower back. My Doc said we can do two things:

monitor it for size and shape hoping it doesn't get bigger

or

surgery to get it taken out

I chose option 1. I've had it for about 4 years now and haven't noticed a change.

I had a lipoma on my inner thigh since I was a teenager. The doctors told me that as long as it wasn't growing and didn't hurt that it was nothing to worry about. I had it removed last year because it was starting to annoy me because of where it was. They removed it in the Dr's office and I'm glad that I had it removed.
