i am friendly with my bus driver and we like to tease each other about the mets and yankees (he is a yankee fan). But it is always good natured.
Another passenger heard the conversation and made some disparaging comments about the Mets and didn't really do it in a nice way, so of course I retailiated.

Interesting.....
This sounds quite similar to the fight I got into with the kid in my mailroom (diehard Mets fan) who decided on Monday to start ranting about how much Johnson s ucks.. this coming after a weekend where the Mets LOST 2 out of 3 to the Yankees
Let's just say that he was promptly put in his place by yours truly

I know!! I mean granted, Johnson DID pitch like crap on Saturday - and any other weekend I would have expected those comments from Yankee-haters and dealt with them accordingly.. but pleeze, do not shoot off your mouth the weekend after the Yanks actually won the series ... how utterly DUMB

If it makes you Met fans feel any better, I take a LOT more cr@p for being a Yankees fan than you guys EVER take for being Mets fans. And if you didn't live in NY, you'd never get any at all. The Yankees are hated in every state in the union (and the confederacy, incidentally  )
I get told to leave rooms, that I shouldn't be allowed to wear my Yankee jersey, that I'm a fan of an evil empire, that I'm a bandwagon fan, that we bought our team, that "I thought you were a good person until now".
My poor mom is living in Baltimore now, and the O's fans are merciless on her. Seriously. She was at the bank and some stranger started with her! My mom is 5'2" and adorable and wouldn't hurt a FLY.
However, Don, you did meet up with a jerk on the bus, and I'm glad you put him in his place.

see, the thing with me is this. I'm not gonna say I don't enjoy occasional banter with the Yankee fans (usually family and close friends). Fact is, I have some strong opinions against the Yankees, whether they are right or not, that's how I feel. But, I'll NEVER go to a game and get on someone for wearing a Yankee jersey because as passionate as I am about the Mets, there are those that are passionate for the Yankees. And that makes them the same as me, just for a different team.
I just get mad when people try to put me down for my team affiliation and then I gotta get nasty

Don you should start ignoring this person cuz she is nothing but a jerk looking for trouble. She had nerve to still taunt you about the mets after what boston did to the Yankees, I guess for her beating up on a Met fan makes her feel better after what happened to the Yankees…that is wrong of her to do…
It’s crazy how people hate you for being a fan of a team one doesn’t like. I’ll admit I hate the Yankees with a passion for my own personal reasons and yes I do hate some yankee fans, but only the ones that give me grief.
You should be able to be a fan of any team you want, we are a free country and have that right! If I ever went to a Met game that was not at shea I would proudly wear my mets jersey or t-shirt and I would root for my team. And as much as I hate the Yankees I would never tell a fan not to wear their jersey. I may kid around about it with friends but in good fun and never seriously.
