Crocheting - Anyone know how to do Pineapple points?

The pattern that I have for a particular blanket is sooooo confusing! I have no idea if I'm doing it right...Chat Icon

The problem is the shells...as far as I can tell, they actually should be worked over 6 stiches, and the ch 3 should actually skip over three stiches as well - it's the only way I can figure out to have 6 shells on each side. But traditionally, a shell is multiple stiches worked in the same stitch of the row below.

I think I figured it out last night, but the pattern is very confusing. I'll post a pic of what I've done tomorrow, but this is what it's supposed to look like.

ETA: I just checked and they don't have it.

ETA: Which row of the point is confusing you?If you follow it step by step, you will be ok.

The problem is the pattern isn't specific enough - there isn't really a step by step - it's says shells of 3dc ch 3 3dc, but if you work that all in the one stitch below, there is no way you can have 20 shells on each side as it indicates you should have. I think I've figured it out.
