L O S T

our adoption paperwork we sent on Saturday is lost in the mail, somewhere between Medford and Mineola! I just can't believe this, and no one has an answer for me--i am upset...i did all the photocopying on Saturday, organized all the photos and mailed it in this really pretty envelope, label, and alllll that paperwork and it now LOST....

I don't want to take this as a bad sign. Is it? I hope not! I hope this is not what is to come.

Susan, make sure you certifiy, return receipt requested, do everything or fed ex it...

I was just on my way to the post office. I'm happy I checked LIF in my normally obsessive way before I went. I will definitely certify it. Thankfully you have photocopies of everything so you don't have to re-do it. imagine?? Definitely don't take it as a sign. Have you contacted the post office? I personally think it's taking a longer time than usual. What day did you mail it again? Usually when things get 'lost' they wind up getting 'found' but just take longer to get to their destination. Good luck; I'm so sorry this happened to you.

i mailed it on saturday and i am thinking allllll those photos!!!!!! the wedding photos....

I told Scott that if it does not appear by tomorrow I won't want to go away b/c I am going to want to see WHERE it appears, and Friday there is NO mail!!!!! I'll just photo copy it and drive it there on Friday!

I am getting upset....

It probably just hasn't arrived yet. What time on Saturday did you mail it? If it was after 5pm (or whenever last p/u was), it wouldn't have gone anywhere until Monday, and then you should give it at least three days to get there. I'll bet you they get it tomorrow. I would try not to obsess over it. I know, easier said than done. Go away and try to relax. In the grand scheme of this long process, two days is not going to make a difference in when you get your baby.

Do you have copies of the pictures you sent? You're lucky you got married recently so there's your formal shots. Joe & I had the hardest time collecting recent pictures.

That is awful!! I hope you find it.

That was one of my biggest fears throughout the whole process, someone losing my information. I literally hand delivered every single piece of information that needed to be handed in. I did not let it lose my sight until I sent the final package to the China office and that went priority fed ex and I was tracking that package like crazy.

Well, I have off tomorrow from work, and I'll make copies of all my copies, and drive there if it is not received today. But then the photos will take a while to gather again, and make more copies of them. This is one reason why I wanted a local agency, so things would be able to be delievered to them if necessary.

Oh Sandra Im so sorry your stressed. Im sure its just late. Luckily you made copies of everything. We worked with a local agency and droped everything off in person. Once you start working with the INS paperwork and original documents are required you may want to consider that. We needed certified copies of birth & marriage certs as well as police clearance etc etc. I requested two originals/certified copies of everything just in case something was misplaced along the way -(and to get a jump start on paperwork for #2)

As an update for today, thursday, they did not receive it in today's mail.....

I'm so sorry, Sandra. That's really discouraging, depressing, and frustrating. I sent mine via certified today. Maybe you should resend the photocopies today.

Try to enjoy yourself this weekend. I really hope they find it soon.

Definately don't be nervous! From my experience with my agency, I'm so glad that I stopped by to drop things off. They get to know you and help you out with a ton of different things that pop up during your paperchase. When it was getting down to the end, I was calling a few times a day, every day as well as stopping by on my way home from work. They probably thought I was a PITA but it made me feel alot more calmer

and hey, that's what we're paying them for!
