How are all of you doing?

I am still in the gruelling paperwork phase.

- Inital app mailed and approved

- My booklet is complete; DH filled in like 2 of 20 short-answer questions

- References mailed today (hopefully everyone will fill theirs out quickly...)

- Fingerprints done yesterday; mailed today

- All other paperwork is complete and ready to go (there are only like 2 questions we need to research a bit more re: our finances)

- Required photographs are selected but need to be printed

We are hoping to send all of our paperwork by the end of this week!

Next step is the homestudy.

Where is everyone else in the process? For those of you that have already adopted, was this the most labor intensive part (the part I'm finishing?) I'd love to hear from everyone.

It looks like your moving right along!! Congrats!!

We completed all our paperwork (our dossier) and sent it to China on 9/23. We are just waiting now for our Log In Date with the Chinese agency. Hopefully we'll get that soon. So basically I'm just in a waiting game until we get a referral. I'm hoping to hear something in April.

We started looking at nursery furniture but it is so confusing. I have no idea what I want but at least it's fun looking!!

Karen, that's SO exciting! I bet you every time the phone rings, you jump! Have fun shopping and decorating. I can't wait to get to that stage! I've heard nothing but AMAZING stories from every single person that's adopted from China, and it seems their timeline is more predictible than others, so you're golden! CONGRATS! DH filled out everything but 2 questions last night (one that he couldn't answer was What would you change about your wife?) I Thought that was cute until he said, "I couldn't possibly narrow it down to the few lines provided." Chat Icon He also filled out the questionable asset section, so we're good to go. All I have to do now is get my pictures developed and wait on my references to write their parts! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

LOL...I had a difficult time filling out the 'what would you want to change about your spouse'. there are a lot of things I would like to change, but I can put down all those things, b/c they are soo studpid!!!! DH is suppose to do his tonight. He knows I want all of this in the mail by Thursday. The only thing that will hold us up are the photos -which need to get printed.....hmmmm

Thank you all : )

The wait is dreadful!! You are so busy running around for months filling out your paperwork and getting everything notarized and approved it is crazy. You hand in your paperwork and it is a great feeling but then you have nothing to do but wait. So now I'm just reading up on everything I can and starting to get things together before our darling daughter arrives.

My DH and I were thinking the other night that this month is probably the month that our daughter is being born. It's such a wierd feeling and I already have love for someone I have never seen.

I'm so glad this forum was created. It's great to talk about these things and so many of us are practically in the same time frame.

Thanks!! Chat Icon

Karen your wait will be over before you know it! Don't forget to get lots of couple and me time in because its all going to change. Keep on reading, especially attachment related material. Have you read Building the Bonds of Attachment by Hughes and Attaching in Adoption by D. Grey? Both books are very good. Enjoy preparing for your daughter. Chat Icon

Ladies, I just read your posts and I want to wish you much luck in getting approved (if that is the correct term). How long does it normally take to find out?
