For anyone interested for adopting a foster child:

Part of the work I do involves working with a foster care program in Westchester County. I thought some of you might be interested in the following program, although it is a shlep from long island. I believe that involves mostly schoolaged children, so it might not be helpful if you only want to adopt a baby.

There is a program going on in the Hudson valley starting this Friday, called the Heart Gallery. A photographer took pictures of children who are in foster care and waiting to be adopted in hopes of helping them to find adoptive parents. These pictures will be on display at the following days and places:

Dutchess County:
10/28-10/30
Poughkeepsie Galleria, Rt 9, Poughkeepsie
Friday - Sat. - 10am-9:30pm
Sunday 11am - 6pm

Westchester County:
11/1 - 11/5
Westchester Arts Council, 31 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains
12pm-5pm

Rockland County:
11/7-11/13
Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center, 55 Railroad Avenue, Garnerville
Mon-Sat - 11am - 7pm; Sunday 9am-5pm

Orange County:
11/14 - 11/18
Southwinds Retirement HOme, 70 Fulton St., Middletown
Monday 4-8pm, Tues-Fri 10am-7pm.

Jackie- do you know if this is going to be an ongoing thing? I have been thinking about adopting when it's time for #2. And I live in the area so it's not so far.

It's very tempting, but unfortunately now's not really the time for us.

Is there a web site?

I am not positive, but I do think this will be an ongoing thing. I couldn't find a specific webpage for the Hudson valley, but if you do a search for "heart gallery adoption," you will find information for this program in all different areas. I had no idea it went on all over the country.
