Do you know someone with mental illness?

1 IN 5 HAS A MENTAL ILLNESS
That means that of the 4356 people logged onto LIF right now 930 of us have a mental illness. That # is astounding, but because of the stigma few discuss it.

I am doing the NAMI walk on May 20th at Jones Beach. NAMI is a grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. NAMI is dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these diseases.

I would love to have some LIFers join me for the walk if you are interested in joining my team.

Help me spice this up. Do you know someone with mental illness?

I'll start:

I have an uncle with Bipolar disorder who has attempted suicide before.

I have several friends and immediate family member with anxiety disorders.

And I work with hundreds of patients everyday who suffer, and I mean suffer, with chronic mental illness

Great cause...and I will definitely walk with you!!

My brother is severely mentally retarded due to birth defects.
My mother suffers from anxiety disorder and is on meds.
I dated a guy once who tried to commit suicide

Do you want us to list people?

Well I have anxiety disorder( Panic Attacks) , and I know too many peolpe with Mental illness

I give you soooo much credit for doing the job you do!!!!! Many people are being helped by you, and I'm sure they're very thankful.

Oh, my mom has "issues"....she's just very clingy and annoying. Does that count?

My mental health is OK tho - but I know plenty of people who aren't!
