Golem does not like this warmer weather...

Craig just called and said that Golem got sick after their walk this morning! He said he was fine on the walk, but when they got home Golem took a drink of water and then he threw up!! I'm pretty sure it was from the heat though - the last few hot days we had he was really sluggish and loafy. We take him for a 45 minute walk twice a day, Craig in the morning, and I walk him in the evening - so I'm thinking it might have been too hot for a long walk and he was overheated and got sick. Craig agreed, so we said he'll only get a 15 - 20 minute walk in the afternoon, then the long walk at night when it's cooler. Poor little guy, I feel so bad every time he's sick - it's so sad knowing that he's not feeling well and I can't do anything to make him better I think he misses running around in the snow now!

Bama used to do this too - but try this: only let Golem have a little bit of water after his walk. Let him cool down for a few minutes, then give him some more water. I read about this on my Boxer message boards and it works.

Yeah, Bama would do the same thing! He'd drink a ton of water and then throw up a couple of minutes later. Luckily I finally found that tip that I just mentioned because my carpet was taking a beating!

When dogs get overheated you shouldn't let them gulp water.... give him ice cubes instead until he cools off a little - we do that for Asia and she's never been sick!
