Hello - I have been lurking on LIfamilies for the past few months and decided to join when I saw this board. DH and I adopted our wonderful son 6 months ago from Moscow City Russia. Our adoption journey had its ups and downs but it is the best thing we have ever done. Our son gives our lives new meaning.

I would love to chat with you ladies about adoption and offer any information I picked up along the way.

I've been looking for advice on adoption from Long Islanders who have adopted and am so happy you decided to post! Please share your stories with us. Welcome and congrats on your son!

We are only in the process of discussing adoption as I still have hope that I will be able to do an IVF cycle, but if not then adoption is one of our options.

Maybe you could share with us, the name of your agency and the time frame it took to have your son home in your arms

Ill be happy to share. Children of the World is the name of the agency we used, they are in Syosset. They are a small Husband and Wife team that have great connections in Moscow and St. Petersburg. We registered with them in April 04, Our paperwork was complete and hand carried to Russia in early August 04, we received the referral of our son Nov 1, 04 and met him on Feb 14, 05, on March 10, 05 he was placed in my arms by his favorite nurse. So it took 11 months total.

Congrats!!! My two boys ages 9 have been home for 2 months from Ethiopia and they are truly the loves of my life!!!! I will adopt again when my fianances are back in track..there are so many children who need families..its such an amazing expereince. Im very very happy and congrats to you!
