Ive never done this before or thought of doing this but I have a really good friends whose dh passed leaving 3 small children behind with lets say almost nothing. They lived a very nice life and I think the life ins. lapsed or something to that effect. Well, I feel awful for her and awful for the children. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can set up something or do an event? She set up a childrens fund on the side but she said it was only effective the first week he passed. Any ideas? i will do anything i can to help. I wonder if i can ask my work place to help out with this.

I just asked this last week... look in the potentially related topics. There are some good ideas there.

We had a garage sale last year to raise money for my brother's medical bills and living expenses.
I called the local Pennysaver and they put an article in the paper about the garage sale. We got a lot of things donated through the Pennysaver and from here...we ended up making about $1000 towards my brothers bills.

BTW, put a box out where you collect the money for goods with a little note explaining the garage sale, you will be amazed at how many people just throw some money in there.
