My DH and I are going to Italy for 2 weeks in June. I have been to some of the places we'll go before. Does anyone have any restaurants or gelaterias that they love? We will be in Lake Como, Cinqo Terre, Santa Margarita, Florence, Tuscany and Rome.
Thanks!!

OMG, you are going to all of my favorite places, esp. Tuscany and Cinque Terre.
When you are in Cinque Terre, be sure to try their foccacia bread pizza, and DEFINITELY try their pesto. It's soooo good. There is one restaurant there that has a rather large outdoor seating area and is soooo delicious. I wish I remembered the name of the restaurant. You basically can't go wrong there. One restaurant was better than the next. Which hotel are you staying at? We stayed at Porto Roca and LOVED it. I want everyone to experience Cinque Terre. You will never want to leave! Be sure to do the hike!
While in Tuscany, visit Montelpulciano. Visit the shops and go to the restaurant that is in the alley across from Hotel Il Marzocco, or any restaurant on the main strip for that matter. This is a very residential area so be sure to bring your phrase book with you. The food is reasonably priced bc it's not a tourist trap and it's awesome. If you go to dinner late at night there, you'll be with all of the residents bc they dine at like 8 or later. Definitely an experience worth having if you want to experience the 'real' Italy.
When you are in Como, take a ride to Cernobbio, rent a boat, and eat at one of the restaurants along the water. We went to two restaurants there, both of which were good.
I did not enjoy the food I had in Florence so I'm not going to recommend anything. I preferred the less touristy areas and did not spend enough time there to really enjoy a good meal. Beautiful city, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't wait to return to the countryside.
Are U going on your own or with a group?
