Has anyone traveled to China recently?

This is not for me, for my bossChat Icon He is going to Bejing and I am assuming the best route is to fly him NY-Tokyo-Bejing

My main question though is what is necessary and/or how do you go about obtaining a Visa to enter China? I am awaiting a call back from my firm's travel agents but they are notoriously UNHELPFUL in this regard

Thanks in advance!

i went a few years ago, but there is i think some airline that flies direct to beijing. i remember they were just starting it after my trip. sorry i can't remember which one. you could also check the state department website for visa requirements.

My DH travels to china all the time. A visa is required. Basically they need a letter that states they are invited to the country. He usually gets his letter from the factory that he goes to.

I have gone transferring in San Francisco and in Tokyo...

I prefer Tokyo, b/c the fight to NY is over the artic circle and takes less time

as for visas...I was never responsible for getting them...but I have to turn over my passport and someone brings it to the Chinese Embassy...

Felica -- Just saw a card in the store and I thought of this post.....here goes:

"President Bush, planning a trip to China, calls his secretary and asks: How long does my jet take to get to China?

She - looking in a Presidental Jet Guide - say: Just a minute....

And he replies: Wow!! That's fast!!!

And hangs up."

United used to to fly directly but discontinued that about a year ago.

Your best bet is:
NY to San Fran to Beijing
or
NY to Chicago to Beijing

And usually whoever you're visiting will send the visa or you can visit the Chinese Consulate in NY.

or use a service Visa Service
