hi! i'm a speech teacher in an elementary school. i have a group of 3rd grade resource room students who i see for language therapy. their teacher asked me to help them with their spelling words for this week... any creative ideas??? i have the wipe off sentence strips, and i've been using those- putting barriers up between the kids, giving them a word to spell, they each write it on the sentence strip. whoever spells it correctly earns a "chip".
BUT, i've done this a bunhc of times and ithink they're starting to get bored of it... any other ideas?? thanks! Chat Icon

They can use a stick and draw the words in the sand.

They can unscramble the word (to help build phonemic awareness)

They can spell using letter tiles.

Hangman, Spelling baseball are games I used to play,

Do the words have a pattern? If so find a cute way to remember the pattern to help them remember.

Songs always work well. I'm a foreign language teacher and I'm always making up songs for words they have to remember.
