I am trying to expose my first graders to stories with strong leads. Can anyone recommend any read alouds for this? It will really help my writing workshop lessons too. TIA! Posted 1/6/07 8:04 PM |

I teach fourth also. We use picture books everyday for our Reading and Writing Workshop lessons. Chapter books can have strong leads for book beginnings or capter beginnings. ETA: I have Eleanor, Sister Ann's Hands, The Book of Mean People, and Shin's Tricycle on my poster. I also reference J.Blume for her chapter leads. Most of these are probably too hard for first grade..so it might not help. Maybe grab some C. Rylant just for the language. Message edited 1/8/2007 11:50:52 AM. Posted 1/7/07 9:13 PM |
