Read Alouds-strong leads

I am trying to expose my first graders to stories with strong leads. Can anyone recommend any read alouds for this? It will really help my writing workshop lessons too. TIA! Posted 1/6/07 8:04 PM |

I teach fourth also. We use picture books everyday for our Reading and Writing Workshop lessons. Chapter books can have strong leads for book beginnings or capter beginnings. ETA: I have Eleanor, Sister Ann's Hands, The Book of Mean People, and Shin's Tricycle on my poster. I also reference J.Blume for her chapter leads.
