Hi - I'm a certified special education teacher. Being that your son is at an early age its a perfect time for him to be evaluated. Speech and language development is very crucial but also very easy to target at a younger age. Being evaluated will not be stressful for your son at all. He won't even realize he is being evaluated. I understand your concern and your feelings which is why I wanted to respond. If they find a need for additional service he will get push in or push our speech therapy. Also, it is very likely that he will "grow out of it" and overcome it OR he will be one of the lucky ones who benefit from early intervention! Posted 1/5/07 10:23 AM |

im a special ed teacher and i work with pre schoolers, like the above posters stated he prob wont even realize he's being evaluated! most likely they will come to your home or you will go to an office with a bunch of toys and fun things for your son to do. I wouldnt worry because the only thing that can come out of him getting speech therapy is better language skills, good luck! Posted 1/5/07 7:02 PM |

me too, you have nothing to worry about...your son will not even realize he is being tested...articulation issues are very common with young children and he should do well with intervention. Message edited 1/5/2007 10:47:27 PM. Posted 1/5/07 10:36 PM |
