I am reading An Italian Affair by Laura Fraser. It's a travel memoir, about a woman who goes off to Italy after her marriage suddenly ends.

I also just finished Moving On by Sarah Ban Breathnach (kind of a combination inspirational/how-to clear your clutter book) She references Joan Didion a lot so I may read that book soon even though it's a tearjerker.

Joan Didion's "The Year of Magical Thinking"...it's very, very, very sad Chat Icon

I want to read this, but I am afraid I will bawl through the whole thing Chat Icon

It is very intense (b/c of her writing style)...it's a short book but I haven't been able to just sit down with it. I've had to take it in doses - reading a few chapters here and there Chat Icon

I read this also, and while I found it very well written, I felt as if Didion thought she was the only woman ever to become a widow. I did feel bad about her daughter's illness and subsequent death.

I just finished Map of Bones by James Rollins. It was EXCELLENT! If you liked The DaVinci Code, you'd like this book. Very similar.

I just started Random Family by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc. It's non-fic. She tracked a group of people from the South Bronx for over ten years and wrote about their ups and downs. It's pretty harrowing and sad.

I read this a while back. It is sort of depressing, but I found it very interesting.

It's incredibly depressing. And I work in the South Bronx- many of the streets mentioned are familiar to me. It makes me look at some of the kids I've come across in a different light. Like, I knew many of them have it bad, but what these kids are going through is unreal!Chat Icon

I finally finished "A Thread of Grace," which I definitely recommend to anyone who likes historical fiction. I am not reading "Tender Bar," which, so far, is a very enjoyable memoir.

I am in the middle of Dogtown by Anita Diamant (she wrote the Red Tent)... so far its interesting... its a story of a town that was supposed to exist in the 1800's on Cape Ann in Massachusetts.

Completely different from the red tent.
