Long Island Business Owner Interviews

LIFamilies interviews Teresa Geraghty Photography
Jun 09, 2016

Let's have some fun and take some photos.

1. Tell us about Teresa Geraghty Photography and the inspiration behind the company:

For as long as I can remember, photography has been a passion of mine. After my first daughter was born, I gained an even deeper appreciation for the importance of preserving and capturing as many memories as I could and in as artful of a way as possible. As my passion grew, I decided I wanted to share my passion by capturing images for clients to help preserve their memories for years to come.

I love portrait photography and capturing families because they are constantly growing and evolving through the years. No two families have the same dynamic or energy and every session is an adventure and a unique learning experience. During each session, I strive to capture connection and emotion in families because, ultimately, these emotions are what you want to hold on to for years to come. My primary goal is to produce images that make my clients feel authentic emotions that make them smile, laugh, or cry. The moments that I capture are not just the milestone moments, but the little moments in life; the ones that seem trivial and mundane, but years from now, we will look at with fondness and wonder why we ever thought them to be unimportant.

2. Do you have a company motto/philosophy and if so what is it?

Let's have some fun and take some photos. I try to avoid rigid formally posed sessions and create a light hearted atmosphere.

3. If you met a potential client and had literally one minute to tell them why they should use your company what would you say?

Life moves quickly. Yes. It is cliche, but so very true. I can help capture those moments that may seem ordinary and routine to you right now, but years from now, you will wish you had them documented.

4. What sets you apart from other family photographers?

I was a public school teacher for 15 years, so I know how to engage and interact with children. Prior to each session, I take the time to get to know my clients. This helps me to connect with my subjects during the session and to produce authentic images.
