Getting “a job” can be challenging enough but getting the job “you want’ can be virtually “impossible”, and just as “tricky” as climbing the corporate ladder. And, part of your success can be your image. According to experts what you wear and how you look and present yourself can make a big difference, especially in the corporate world. And, while you would think that there are some definite rules for dressing for success, stylists suggest its best to start by doing your research. Remember each company has its own attitude, personality and persona.

While you can’t go wrong with the basics, black, navy, and grey, experts suggest matching your suit jacket to your skirt or pants, for a more conservative environment, and personalizing it with a splash of colour in accessories or a blouse.

Clear stocking with a dark suit are also a non-suitable “no-no”. In fact, hose should match the colour of your shoe (unless you’re a nurse wearing shoes that are white).

Replace loafers with heels (if you’re sitting down) or ballet flats if your on your feet all day and make sure both heels and toes are not worn. And, for gals who need to meet with clients, remember to keep your bag “stylin” as well.

They add that your outfit should exemplify your career. If you’re working in an “upscale” environment, your wardrobe should “look” just as “luxurious” and “expensive”, and if your workplace is more casual and laid back, your image should say comfortable but chic.

Work closes, again depending on wear you work, should also offer versatility and transition relatively easily from work to play and day to night with just a little help from a change of shoes, accessories, unhooking a few shirt buttons, or by slipping off your work jacket to reveal a sexy top or cami.
