So many of us, myself included (though I’d like to convince myself I’m “perfect”) often experience frustration, highs and lows, and a host of emotions based on the situation at hand. And, all too often we act out of immediate impulse and on our current feelings. Yet, if most of us examine these “impromptu” decisions, it’s likely we’ll find that they’re often not the wisest or the ones we’re most proud of. In fact, we are letting our emotions control and get the best of us instead of the other way around.

Yet, there are those people, who most of us look up to and admire who somehow seem to rise above adversity, hardship, and even “tragedy” with grace and aplomb. And, even our every day trials and tribulations don’t seem to get the best of them.

This, say expert is because these folks are in tune with their thoughts and their emotions and allow logic to take control.

And, they add, the only way to gain control is to define the terms and facts of your life and move forward from there. In fact, experts suggest focusing more on who you are and what you “do” have rather than on what you “don’t” have and how you “feel” about yourself. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t strive to change or improve, it simply means taking the focus off the negative, especially since adverse perceptions can misguide us. In fact, the pros add that feelings are often fleeting and they come and are dependent on a host of factors and experiences. On the other hand, facts are real.
