Moms On The Run: Fitting In Beauty And Fitness

We all want to be “hot mamas”, even those of us who are not moms. But moms often feel they lack the time and energy to care for themselves. Still, according to experts and other moms alike, putting yourself first is actually also putting your family first by ensuring that you’re doing the best you can to stay healthy, fit and sexy fro all of them.

Start by changing you mind or your mindset and letting go of the guilt that often goes along with setting aside some “me” time for you. Keep in mind that eating well and exercising are not selfish indulgences but rather essential necessities that help you function fully and properly. They key is learning to cook things that are good and taste good and finding a work out routine that is comfortable for you. Think bike riding or jogging if you’re the outdoor type or Pilates if you don’t want too much strenuous activity.

Next make sure to find a convenient time when you can totally focus on you and what you are doing, like when the kiddies are napping, on a play-date or after they’ve been dropped off at camp or school.

Make your routine more challenging and more fun by involving a friend. Not only will this help you bond on an adult level and without the man and the kids, but it will also make each of you accountable to the other, encouraging both or all of you to stick to your routine, as well as giving each of you company and a companion to make a tedious “chore” more exciting and something to look forward to.

For times when you are left to your own fitness resources, take your mind off fitness by placing the focus on music, TV, or a book. Download your favourite tunes or audio books to your Ipod and listen while you work. Otherwise, set up “shop” in front of your television and tune into some of your favourite shows.

Above all banish the word diet from your vernacular. But, don’t use that as an excuse to eat what you want. Instead allow yourself the “occasional” treat so that you don’t go crazy with craving for things that aren’t any good for you. Instead pay closer attention to what you “do” eat, realizing that what you eat today will affect you, how you look and feel, probably for the rest of your live.

Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to indulge your body like the “temple” that it is with frequent baths, massages and facials to help keep you feeling and looking young.
