The modern woman is likely about natural beauty, holistic eating and healthy living. And, form mod-moms that may also mean an au-naturale delivery. But, that can also mean lots of pain, taking away from the “pleasure” of this naturally beautiful experience.

Still, experts assert that there are ways to ease the pain and make it easier.

1. Get the help of a doula or midwife: These professionals will serve as your advocate and your support system at this very crucial time.

2. Enroll in prenatal exercise or yoga classes: This is a great way to stay fit while building physical strength and develop pain-management techniques. Plus, it gives you a greater understanding of your body and how it’s equipped for the birthing process.

3. Keep Up With Your Kegels: These exercises will benefit you more the more you do them. And, it will give you greater awareness of your body.

4. Penn A Birth Plan: This will help give direction to your doctor and medical staff filling them in on your wants and needs.

5. Make proper preparations: From taking a tour of the hospital or birthing facilities to gaining a clear understanding of all the pain meds that you’ll be offered, you’ll want to discuss all option with your doula, and your partner before you go into labor.

6. Enroll And Take A Childbirth Class Experts assert this will give you a greater understanding of childbirth, help you visualize your labor and give you confidence.

7. Go For A Prenatal Massage: Pros suggest this will help you relax, keep your body loose, and offer inner tranquility.

8. Invest In Aromatherapy oils: According to experts, scents such as lavender, rose, and ylang-ylang can be very calming. Energizing oils include grapefruit, spearmint and orange. However, you should consult with your doctor first. And, if you get the thumbs up you can keep a small cloth pouch with an ample array of essential oils to meet your different needs. Your best bet is organic.

9. Have A Heart-To-Heart With Mom: Remember she’s been down this road, at least once before and likely had similar experiences. She can likely give you good advice.

10. Breath Between Contractions: Keep in mind that every contraction is followed by a rest period that allows natural endorphins to counterbalance the work of the contraction.
