Fur-ocious Pets: Dealing With Excess Pet Fur

While I’ve grown to love most things about my husband’s cat, there is one thing I doubt I’ll ever get use to. It’s her hair, literally everywhere and virtually impossible to keep up with. As much as I vacuum, and I vacuum A LOT, it simply seems that her hair is always in the air, even in places she never lays or sits.

But, despite my allergies and my preference for a hair-free home, giving he to another good home is NOT an option, the best we can do for now is find an acceptable solution. And, since I like to keep the home meticulously and fastidiously clean and organized there’s likely no easy “answer”.

Yet, according to experts there are things I, and other particular pet owners can do. While frequently bathing your pet is NOT recommended the occassional bath CAN help. However, note that cats are already pretty “clean” since they hate baths, and tend to do a pretty good job of grooming themselves.

Daily brushing is yet another viable “solution”, and one pets generally don’t mind and may even enjoy. Plus, keeping up with sweeping a vacuuming is a MUST.

Remove hair form furniture and clothing by using lint/hair brushes or use a lint roller if you’ve got one around. An even “better” method, according to experts, is masking tape. Simply roll it around your whole hand with the adhesive side facing the air and tap your clothing or furniture with your hand repeatedly removing the hair and lint. Replace as often as needed.
