I do not eat meat on fridays all of lent... not to mention my DH is Greek Orthodox and his Easter is next weekend, so i will go and not eat meat next Friday as well.
This year they were only one week apart, but when GO Eater and our Easter is 4 weeks apart that is a killer for me b/c that is like almost 3 months of no meat fridays
ETA: I also did not eat meat on Spy Wednesday
You're lucky.... we are so strict in our house - we don't eat ANYTHING that comes from a blooded animal....
No cheese, eggs, dairies, meats.... it's tough! LOL

Re: Do you eat meat on Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday?
They are moveable feasts. I eat anything and everything both days. The only 'fast' days on the Lenten calendar are Good Friday and Ash Wednesday.
We are not supposed to eat meat on Fridays during Lent but you aren't compelled to fast except for Good Friday and Ash Wednesday.

Re: Do you eat meat on Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday?
I remember in Girl Scouts (I guess it was Brownies and Juniors) we would make meatballs for the soup kitchen at the local church for Holy Thursday. I guess it was a different circumstance, but we always just followed no meat on Good Friday growing up.

I don't eat meat on Ash Wednesday or Fridays during Lent. DH does the same but also will not eat meat on any Friday and fasts completely on Good Friday.

Thanks for answering everyone. DH made plans for us to go out for burgers on Good Friday! HEATHEN! LOL
So I asked him to change it to Saturday but then I was thinking maybe that wasn't good either. . . but I should be safe!
Yes, you can have meat on those days. My dad is a strict catholic and he never taught us this. I only avoid meat on Ash Wednesday and Friday's during Lent.

I don't eat any kind of meat on Ash Wednesday, Spy Wednesday and every Friday in lent. Today and Saturday I will eat meat.
I have never ever heard of Spy Wednesday before--and I attended Catholic school for twelve years and taught in Catholic schools for eleven years! You know I had to run to Wiki right now! Thanks for prompting me to learn something new!
I do not eat meat on Ash Wednesday or any Friday during lent--that's it.

I never referred to it as Spy Wednesday either... and I'm another product of more than a decade of Catholic school!

I attended Catholic school for 13 years and never heard of it in school either. I attended the home of my mother for 26 years and learned from her. According to the DoRVC website it's not a required day of abstaining from meat according to my mother it is .

Mom was a Catholic.... but was forbidden from the church after marrying my father in the Greek church.
So when I was 17 she was rebaptized in the GO religion....
I'm not making Kristina fast until she's around 3 tho. It's too hard on the little ones, and they won't understand. Once she is 3 though - She'll be fasting like the rest of us. I will probably not make her do strict fast... I'll prob allow her the milk until she's 5.

I'm pretty sure the hierarchy goes like this:
God Mom Vatican
So if Mom says it's okay, I think you're fine!

Re: Do you eat meat on Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday?
We have always just observed Ash Wednesday and Fridays in Lent.
DH is from Poland and he said they would FAST on Good Friday and then not eat until they got their food blessed on Holy Saturday.

I'm Catholic but I don't abide by the "meat" rules regarding Lent.
We don't follow either And I was raised following it. We just did Good Friday...
