My dog is a snow eater!
All he wants to do when I bring him out is eat the snow. He runs around like a psycho and gobbles it up like it's food! It's so funny! Does anyone else's dog do this?

TOTALLY.
Keep on the lookout for more frequent pee breaks! That's how we had some accidents our first winter with Brinkley, we didn't realize and he just wanted to be outside the whole time!

Yep, Ali loves eating snow. Also, shoving her face in it which looks really cute on her black face

Re: My dog is a snow eater!
Someone who is very knowledgable about animals told me that this was no good for animals because it is too cold and bloats their abdomen. They said you are not supposed to give dogs anything cold such as snow or ice water. Does anyone know if this it true or not? My dog eats snow also this is her first winter. BTW I am Dilb712's sister and just at her house reading this. She did not post this I did!! Please let me know if this is true or not.

Re: My dog is a snow eater!
Funny you mention that, I had the same worry when I read that this summer, but it was a discussion on using ice to cool an overheated dog down.
For deep-chested dogs prone to bloat like German Shepherds and Labs, it's probably not a good idea if they already have food in their stomach or if they're overheated. Besides, they expel heat through their paws and nose, not their mouth, so it's useless anyway.
As far as eating it in the winter, I haven't read anything that points to it being a big issue but to be safe, we only do it after he's digested. We soak his food in water anyway to cut down on bloat, and don't let him run around for an hour before and after he eats.
Sorry it's so long... Diana can tell you I tend to run off at the mouth.
