how much do you tip the newspaper delivery person per month?
our newspaper delivery is charged to our credit card but we have to do the tip separate.
we get little envelopes to mail to her. how much should we send per month?

We send a check every two months, for a dollar a week, and give a small amount extra at Christmas. We've been lucky to have really good consistant service in all kinds of weather, even though our carrier has changed a few times, and I also see from the address that they don't exactly live in the neighborhood, so I reward that. Also, I figure it's a really sucky job to have to get up so early every day - I know I wouldn't want it!

I think my parents tip $5/month.
funny story though. One month my dad accidently wrote out the check for $500!!!! He didn't realize it until he balanced the checkbook. He stopped the delivery guy one day and he initally denied it saying my dad only gave him 5 bucks, but a few days later $495 was back in my dad's account (they had the same bank).

However, if it were me I would have asked your dad if it were a mistake...that would be one hell of a tip!
The delivery guy was totally shady and it was an honest mistake. He's gotten $5 bucks a month for the longest time and all of a sudden it changes. I would have asked. And if he did, my dad would have given him more money for being honest instead he lied even though the check had already been cashed with his signature!!

I never see my paper lady. She sticks gratuity envelopes in my paper every now and then.
I only tip at Christmas and I only give 20 bucks. I guess I am a cheapskate.
I'm okay with that.

I feel so much better now!!
I only send a tip at Christmas.
My deliveryperson leaves a gratuity envelope also, but I toss it and just give him a card and giftcard at Christmastime....
When I had a paperboy, I tipped hiim a couple dollars a week.

Only at Christmas - paper carriers are paid these days unlike when kids used to deliver the papers for practically nothing.

Most of the tips that you send in are not given to the actual person delivery the paper it is give to the "broker" who hires the delivery people.
A friend of mine actually delivers the paper and told never to mail the tips in and just hand cash to the actual delivery person that is the only way to guarentee that it is going to them and not their bosses.
